Even though we’re still not “officially” launched, I’ve been picking up the odd item as I came across good deals. I needed a good fluid-damped tripod head for the Manfrotto tripod I bought off Kijiji some time ago, and found a source on eBay that had a good price for one. The head is a Fancier FT-717AH, which in spite of being an offshore bargain make, is smooth and solid. I had bought one just like it in the old Lundy’s Lane UC days, so I knew it offered good value at a reasonable price. To go along with the new tripod head, I bought a Libec zoom controller. This mounts on the grip handles and allows thumb-operated variable-speed zooms without letting go of the handles and shaking the camera. So now the mount and control is complete for our primary video camera.
